Bubba, Soccer and Birthdays

First I have to start off by saying HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my sister Megan! I am a bad sister and did not say this on her actual birthday which was the 27th (Friday). She is now 24 years old!

We had a family party for her today at my parents and a fun time was had by all. My children both went swimming (yeah, it's finally warm enough!) and Kennedy is already tan after one swim.

Brendan played hours of baseball (he is OBSESSED!) and before every at bat he has to hit the bat on the ground and then say "swing the bat". I must say, he has a pretty good swing. He can really nail the ball for a two year old. In fact, I think he hits it farther and harder than Kennedy. Here is a picture of him playing today...

I finished the sample for my mini-album class I am teaching. I think it turned out really cute! Here is a preview of the cover of the album...

Yesterday (Saturday), Kennedy started soccer again. This season she is so confident! It is like a whole different child! I was so proud watching her out on the field. I have a couple of pictures but they are on a disc downstairs so they will have to wait till tomorrow. After soccer we went to the most fabulous store in the world called Homegoods. I don't know if you have been there or not but it is DANGEROUS! Every time I go there, I want to buy everything! So, we were waiting in line to pay and Kennedy yells "Momma, look theirs a Bubba!" She was so excited and I had no idea what she was talking about. I am looking around in the direction she is pointing and finally I figure it out. There was a big statue of a Buddha which she thought was called a Bubba. Every time I think about that story I get a grin on my face. So next time you see a statue of a Buddha you will smile too because now you know his "real" name!

Bittersweet

I forgot to mention yesterday in my post that it was a bittersweet day. I was excited but at the same time I was sad and reflective about how time passes so quickly. People say that you should savor every moment with your children when they are young because they grow up so fast. I'd like to think that I do but yesterday made me want to cling to that even more. Yesterday Scott and I had to register Kennedy for KINDERGARTEN! I can't believe she is going to be in Kindergarten already. Wasn't she just starting preschool? Next thing I know she is going to be getting ready to go to the prom or some other high school event. I am SO not ready for this. I want her to stay my little girl that like to cuddle with her Mommy and tells me she loves me. i want my kids to stay little forever so they can still argue over who gets to sit in Mommy's lap when we are cuddling together. I am so not okay with all of this. I am starting to tear up writing this and I don't even know why. I am going to be a mess her first day of school. Someone pass the tissues!

Birthdays and Funnies

First I have to start out by telling about how funny Kennedy is. Last night we were at my parents because Brendan wanted to eat his birthday dinner at GigiPapa house (that's what he calls it). We were all talking about how Brendan had thrown up at the party and we were trying to figure out why. My dad said it was because my Mom had been bouncing him on her legs and he must have gotten seasick. Kennedy looked at me with a serious face and said "But we didn't eat any seafood so it couldn't have been that!" I could not stop laughing. It was one of those moments where you look at your child and can't believe how much you love them. It is amazing how a child's brain works. Okay, now for the pictures. I have a lot so be ready...

Here are Brendan's cupcakes for his birthday. My friend Angie and I made them together. We were very proud of our efforts.
Here's the birthday boy in the Angels jersey he received as a gift. He LOVES baseball and the Angels!

My cute husband playing in the tunnel Brendan got from my parents. I'm not sure if he or the kids had more fun in it, it was a close call!
Grandpa, Brendan, Grammy and Auntie Kerry came to share Brendan's special day with him.
Okay I have to cut the pictures short because Brendan is crying, so more later!

My Sweet Boy

turns 2 today! I am happy because he is growing up to be such a sweet, loving and smart boy. I'll confess I am a little sad too. He is the one that loves to cuddle with me. He will be playing with Kennedy or outside and he will stop what he is doing and come over for some loves. I am trying to soak them up as much as I can because I know when he gets older there won't be so much love giving (voluntary at least) because how many 14 year old boys want to give their moms hugs and kisses. Hopefully he will be one of those boys that likes to give his Mom hugs and kisses when he is older. So Brendan has also decided he is goin' to Jackson. My children are now loving to listen to Johnny Cash. Brendan's favorite song is Jackson and here is our conversation about he song...
Brendan: Mamma I go to Jackson
Mama: Okay, who are you going with?
Brendan: Johnn Cash
Mama: That sounds fun, what are you going to do with Johnny Cash in Jackson?
Brendan: Ummmmmm....... play hockey baseball.
Is he too funny! So every time he hears the song now he tells me he's going to Jackson and we have to have the whole conversation over again. Kennedy's favorite song is A Boy Named Sue. Is she too cute too! Her favorite line of the song is "My name is Sue, How do you do!" She and Brendan say this many times throughout the day and think it is the funniest thing in the world. Brendan can't quite say it though so he just says " My do do Sue, how do do do". Ah now I know why I get nothing done because all I do is laugh at them. Well its time to get ready to go. I was not a nice Mommy and I scheduled Brendan's two year check-up on his actual birthday. Shots here we come! Oh yeah, the birthday party was a success yesterday. He received SO many presents that I don't know where I am going to put them all. In fact, it was such a success that as our friends were leaving last night, Brendan threw up all over the carpet. Of course I had made cupcakes with red frosting on them so you can imagine what a fun mess that throw-up was to clean. I will post the pictures later today because I left the camera in the car. Have a great day! Oh yeah, Brendan requested bananas and hamburgers for his birthday dinner so if you have one today think of Brendan!

Exciting Day

My exciting weekend is over. Yesterday was a big day! In the morning I had my arthrogram and MRI. Let me tell you how fun that actually was! I was laying there on the table while they prepped me and the dye (it's a sterile procedure, I had to be draped) and I looked over and saw the needle. I don't get freaked out by the kind of stuff but the first thought that ran through my head was, that's a big a** needle. I don't know why those exact words popped in my head but it made me smile while they were about to stick that needle in my shoulder! After that funness was over (is that even a word?!) it was time for DANCING WITH THE STARS! My mom and I had the best time. Can I tell you I love the show even more now! Not only that but Louie( from last season) is VERY handsome. He was there in the audience last night and he was a little distracting! The girls on the show look tiny on TV but in real life they are tinier and Edyta has the most amazing muscular legs. I can only dream to someday have fantastic legs like hers! Oh yeah, Ian Ziering is SO thin. He also has nothing for a butt. It was flat like a board from his back down to his legs. Oh yeah, and Apollo's performance was even better in person. He and his partner are SO cute together.

I think they are my favorite even though I still like Joey.

Two posts in two days!

Can you believe it! What's come over me?! Actually today I wanted to write about Ali Edwards. I have talked about her before when she had made a badge for Six Degrees, the charity contest. Well, on her blog today she talks about Autism Speaks, which is the charity her badge donated to. I highly recommend taking a look at http://aliedwards.typepad.com/. There is also a video from Five for Fighting (Awesome music by the way) that is donating to Autism Speaks. Me describing it doesn't help! Just go look at the blog, click on the link above and read all about it. I might not have autistic children but since I am working on my masters in special ed this touches me and makes me want to do anything I can to help because who knows what could happen right!

So Spoiled!

and for once I am talking about myself! Can I tell you how exciting my next three days are going to be! So let me begin with Saturday. My mom is taking my sister and I for a girls night. Not just any girls night, but we are going to see Wicked. How fabulous is that!!! Not only do I get a night out with my Mom and sister, but I get to see a fabulous play on top of it.
So just when I thought it couldn't get any better, I found out on Monday night I get to go see Dancing With the Stars taped. SO EXCITED! The only downfall is Kennedy is obsessed with the show to the point where she can tell you everything about the dancers including who they danced with the previous seasons. She wants to go SO bad but can't because you have to be 16. Okay, so she cried for a good 30 minutes about it and then decided she didn't want m to go either. She told me she just wants me to stay home with her. How rotten did I feel at that moment!
Changing the subject quickly, tell your friends, family whoever. I am going to be teaching a scrapbook class the entire month of may at Glen Ivy Hot Springs in Corona. So if you live nearby or know someone who does come to Glen Ivy and spend the day at the spa and scrapping. Does it get any better than that? i think not! Can I tell you how busy I am going to be because I just ordered all the materials for 600 KITS!!! So if anyone is wondering what to do on a saturday afternooon, give me a call cause I'll have lots of things to keep you busy! I am signing off for tonight so I can get lots of sleep for my fabulously fun weekend!!!

It's way past tommorrow!

I know I said I would post pictures from Easter earlier in the week. I didn't quite tell the truth. Sorry, but here they are ! It's going to be a long one so be ready! I have pictures of people and of the decorations I made for Easter. I made place cards for everyone, tags for the baskets when we had our Easter egg hunt and flags that hung where our hunt was. So, lets get to it...

Here's the vintage place cards

The tags even though I can't get the picture to turn the right way so just turn your heads!

The flags were different fabrics. They turned out pretty cute if I do say so myself!

Here's pictures of Scott, the kids and I. Scott did not want to take pictures AT ALL, but he was a good sport and smiled pretty for the camera for his wifey.

This is Brendan's new pose when he sees a camera.

And last but not least, the pictures from the hunt...
Allright, I kind of feel caught up now. The kids have been saying lots of funny stuff but more on that later.

Crazy Time

Just wanted to write a quick note to say I AM STILL HERE. I am totally having one of those days where I am really grumpy and stressed and even my cute, adorable and funny children can't crack that smile. I have lots of pictures from Easter and we had a great day ( Hope you all did too!). I don't have time to post them today because tonight is "go time" for my line of tags and I am still trying to gather materials for 400 kits for the class I am going to teach in May. Oh yeah and Kennedy is on spring break this week (that means toys, toys everywhere) and I have no time to clean ANYTHING! Hope everyone had a great weekend, more later...

This is for Joe

I had to post this for our friend Joe. I was on the phone with him and Brendan decided to dress himself by putting a sweatshirt on as pants, so here he is... with both legs through the neck hole!

Proud Mama Moment

Okay, so this morning I had one of those moments. You know when you look at your child and think when did she grow up and how did I not notice it? We were in Kennedy's room laying on the floor reading books and I told her I wanted her to read to me. So she did. She didn't just read one book, but she read me THREE books. WOW! If I wouldn't have already been on the floor I would have fallen on it. We both had the biggest grins on our faces. So that's all I have to say today but let's just say I am the proudest Mama in the world right now!

Taking risks, the power of connections and Josh Grobin

Just to warn you this is gonna be a long one! Where to begin... we have had so much going on that I don't even know what to talk about first. I don't even know where the days have gone and it feels like I had just posted but this morning at breakfast Scott told me I was slacking on my blog. My husband actually reads this!!! Can you believe it? So if my husband noticed that i hadn't been writing as much then I better get on it!
So last week or so I talked about the six degrees charity badge that Ali Edwards was doing for her son who is Autistic. Well, the contest ended last night and she was the number one badge. Not only that, she had over 2000 people donate and raised $48,000. How amazing is that?! It makes my heart feel full that people are so generous and it amazes me that the power of the word was what fueled the charity drive. Like she said on her blog, all it takes is for one person to tell someone and that person tells one person, who tells one person and so on. Look what can be accomplished.
So I finally did it. I took the plunge. I have been tinkering back and forth for a while now about starting an invitation business. I even had my business license but didn't know if I had the time or talent to pull it off. Just because I think what I make is cute doesn't mean other people will or will want to buy it. So I had made some designs for a friend that had asked me to make some gift tags for her Mary Kay stuff. She really liked them and has been showing them to her friends who want to buy them as well. I sent the artwork to the printer and I am in business! Lindsay Marie Invitations is officially in business. I am hoping to have a blog up in the next few days. It will have my designs on it, not just the Mary kay gift tags, but my regular invitation designs as well. The address will be LindsayMarieInvitations.blogspot.com so check it out and spread the word if you like the designs!!!
Okay enough about me...well one last thing. Last night I took my Mom to see Josh Grobin at the Staples Center. I hadn't really listened to his music before so I didn't know if I was going to like it. Wow! I am so a Josh Grobin fan now. He was amazing! His show was fantastic! The woman that opened for him was from Africa and she was very talented as well. She did a little bit of talking between songs and the things she said made me want to go out and be a better person. She talked about living life and that once you are dead, that's it, you don't have another chance to do what you want or to make things right so make it happen now. She also talked about humanity and how people make mistakes no matter what color their skin is. We are all humans and we should support each other in this quest of life. No one should be with out food or a roof over their heads and we are the ones that can make it happen if we (people all over the world) can work together. Of course she spoke a lot more eloquently than I do but you get the jist of it right!
My mom and I also took the kids to the Long Beach Aquarium on Thursday. They had the best time! Kennedy was so excited she was running from exhibit to exhibit. We are definitely going to go back again soon. I tried to upload pictures to show the kids at the aquarium and everything else we did this week but for some reason it's not letting me. I'll try to post later today or tomorrow with the pictures. Oh yeah, Friday night we went to a free concert at Kennedy's preschool. It was fun! the man's name was Kevin Kidd and he sings kids worship songs. If you have kids you should definitely check him out. I'm pretty sure he has a website. The kids were laughing and dancing throughout the whole concert. Scott and I had fun too. It was just good to get out and do something as a family because lately that has been hard to do.
All right, I'm signing off... I've babbled enough for today. Hope you all had a great weekend!
