Hoping for rain...
the home front is not looking good. We are lucky in the fact that the fires are not on us. They are surrounding us but not on us. Southern California has so many people, sometimes it feels like we are packed like sardines, but it seems like everyone knows at least one person who has been evacuated or is fighting the fire. The devastation is so sad. I feel lucky that we are only getting the ash covering from the nasty fires. Please add the fire victims to your prayer lists. sorry for the short post.

miss my boys already!
They left for the weekend. A last minute trip to the east coast. My father-in-law called last night and wanted to go to the Redsox/Indians game so off they went. I am having a hard time with my little boy going on an airplane without me but it's gonna happen sooner or later right. So since I am missing my boys already here's some pictures from earlier in the week. We were at my parents house as the sun was going down and we were playing outside...

Brendan and his funny faces. He poses himself and then makes these crazy faces. He makes me laugh.
Ms. K had quite the busy social schedule this weekend. Soccer, 2 birthday parties, the usual drill. One more week and she is on vacation. Gotta love year round school. School for three months, off for one. It will be fun. My mom is off at the same time because they are on the same track and that allows for lots of fun activities. Ms. K keeps telling me "I've already planned Gigi's vacation." I think we are going to the American Girl store and the Johnny Cash exhibit (because my children are obsessed with Johnny Cash, their favorite songs are Jackson and Boy Named Sue) and who knows what else we'll end up doing.
All right, I am off to bed, my girl and I are having a slumber party!

No Self Analyzing Today
I promise! Actually today is something that is more important than analyzing my inner issues that i have passed on to my daughter. Here it is...

I read about this on Ali Edwards blog and I had to spread the word. Check out the website, http://blogactionday.org/. Basically for one day blogger's are going to talk about the same issue. Today it is the environment. Something that impacts all of us. A great topic to discuss.
Recycling. A big deal at our house. Anyone and everyone can do this and the impact is so great! I highly recommend having two trash cans in the kitchen. I know this sounds like a lot an some may say "I don't have enough room" but they don't have to be huge ones. Dedicate one for recycling and one for everything else. You will be surprised how quickly the recycling can will fill up. There are so many things that can be recycled; junk mail, kids school papers, jars (spaghetti sauce, etc.) , plastic bottles (syrup, ketchup, etc.), cereal boxes.
At our house we are very proud to have a full recycling can on trash day and only two bags in the regular trash can.
There are SO many things we can do to make a difference. Please check out the website. The have an entire section with resources about making a difference. Take the time, it could change your life!

Mini Me
So we always knew that Ms. K was my mini-me but when she does things that I would totally do it makes me laugh. Twice this week she amazed me with her "me"-ness.
One night I was getting their bath ready and she was supposed to be picking up her Pet Shop stuff. She couldn't get the container closed so I went to help her. It wouldn't close cause she had to many pets in one compartment. I started to move them around and she freaked out. "You can't move them Momma!"
"Why not, I can't close the container hunny"
"Because I have them separated by EYE COLOR!!!"
That is SO me. It's so me it's scary! That is something I would totally do. Scott makes fun of me all the time for things just like this! Oh well.
Saturday at soccer Ms. K did not have fun.The girls were all a little out of it yesterday (could have been the rainy morning we had) and Ms. K became disoriented and scored a goal on her own team. She was so upset she started crying and left the game. She came over and sat with me and I asked her why she was so upset. My kindergartner told me "I wasn't ready for the game today"
"what do you mean you weren't ready for the game today?"
" I wasn't ready for the other team and then I got confused. I was just trying my best"
"Hunny, I know you were. It's okay if you don't score lots of goals in a game and it's okay if you score a goal for the other team. Every girl out there has done it and they don't even care."
I think she was more mad that she did it and embarrassed that she made a mistake. She is so me! I would have done the same thing at her age and I probably would have done the same thing when I was older. I still struggle with that as an adult, especially the whole making mistakes part. For some reason my brain thinks that if I am going to do something I better do it fabulously or I don't want to do it. mistakes are not allowed and if I make one I am extremely embarrassed and I don't want to do it anymore. I know that is weird but, like I said it is something i struggle with and have a lot more control over now. I see Ms. K struggle with the same things and I feel for her. As a parent you hate for your struggles to be inherited by your children but I guess they can't get everything fabulous about their parents!
Wow, this post went down a totally different path than I intended. I was intending for it to be funny and it ended up being about issues.
Time for me to sign off...my hubby has been patiently waiting to check his fantasy team.
hope everyone has a great week!

Fall is here!!!
Well as much as Fall comes to the west coast! Friday night we went to the homecoming game on town (there are multiple high schools but Dad teaches at this one). I kept telling Scott I felt like I was on the show Friday Night Lights. this high school is very small town. People were wearing cowboy hats and boots with their jerseys. It was a cold night but the kids had so much fun. They loved watching the game and all the activity that goes with it. When it was time for the homecoming parade around the track, Mr. B was fixated on the cheerleaders because they were riding on a fire truck and it had all its lights on. So fun!!! Here's some pictures form the night...
Ms. K is keeping up the trend and scored another four goals this week. She wasn't very happy at this game because there was a girl on the other team that liked to push... everybody. She pushed Kennedy on the ground and was pushing Ms. K's teammates. That did not sit well with Ms. K. It was all she talked about the whole way home. I guess she will learn that there are always going to be people that don't play by the rules even in life.
Leavin' you with a video of my boy singing his Favorite song that I hear ummm....maybe 20 times a day (or more!)...

Every have one of those days...
where everything is going just right. I am having one of those days. There's not really anything major that stands out as being great. Just one of those "Lovin' to be alive and lovin' my family, thanking God for all my blessings" days.
Things I love today...
1. I can take my son on a date for a muffin and juice and all he wants to do is cuddle with me (savoring every moment cause it won't always be this way!)
2. It's fall! (my favorite time of year!)
3. I have a fabulous husband who loves me even when I am a pain (it's okay cause I love him when he's a pain too!)
4. My daughter is so amazingly smart.
5. I love it when my children wake me up with kisses in the morning instead of my annoying alarm clock!
6. Time for fall food like french onion soup with crusty bread and extra cheese, homemade meatloaf and mashed potatoes ( mu hubby's favorite).
7. My husband works hard so I can stay home part time with our children.
8. I have the best job in the world (teaching P.E. at an elementary school in the afternoons). Today is our day with special ed. and it's my favorite day of the week. They are the best kids and I always have fun with them!
I have lots of other things that make me happy but I want to hear what makes everyone else happy. Please tell us so we can share in your joy today!!!
Leaving you with a vintage fall postcard becaue that is another thing that makes me happy...

2 days in a row!
It's been a while since I have posted 2 days in a row! So I took some pictures of my finds from thrifting and here they are...

lovin' my vintage postcards. Not only are the pictures beautiful but I love reading the notes on the back. Does that make me nosy?

so excited about my table cloth and matching napkins too. Can I tell you I got the whole set of six napkins and table cloth for $9 (not one stain or mark either!) Can't wait to put it on the table.

Love the colors!
Here's the picture of the mini album I just finished too. It's 4 1/2 by 9 inches. Here we go...
the cover,

Lovin' different sized pages right now

All the papers were Rusty Pickle. Okay I'm off to spend time with my husband. Our favorite show, the Unit, is about to come on.

Busy weekend as usual...
Kennedy scored another four goals on Saturday. Daddy now owes her $20. We still have 5 more games to go....hmmm does that mean we are going to owe her $40 by the end of the season? I hope not! Sunday morning Mr. B and I woke up bright and early and headed down to the Long Beach Antique Market with my mother-in-law Debbie. It was a nice day to go browse and deal and we both got some good stuff. Brendan even enjoyed himself. Here he is in the posh ride...
loaded with toys, food and drink...

gettin' comfy...

and he hit the jackpot when we found this booth.

all vintage sports equipment (gloves, balls, bats, catchers masks, footballs, etc.)

We stayed at that booth for a while and I kept asking him "are you ready to go?" "No, I still lookin'" So cute!
Got some scrappin' done this weekend. When I scrap I don't do chronological. I just can't. When I try it turns me off to something I enjoy. So when the spirit moves me I pick some pictures and go. Today I was feeling very summery and so I scrapped the 4th of July. I am really happy with the way the album turned out. I will take pictures and post tomorrow cause it is almost 9 and I still have not eatin' dinner. More tomorrow! Oh yeah, I'll post pictures of my finds from thrifting!
